I set up Ashburton Therapy because I wanted to do things differently.
Not rushed appointments. Not one-size-fits-all treatment. Not sending people away with a leaflet and a follow-up in six weeks. I wanted to create a space where people feel genuinely listened to, where they're treated as an individual, not another booking, and where the treatment actually makes a difference.
I'm Emily, a specialist soft tissue therapist based at The 54 Clinic in Banbury. I work with people who are living with jaw pain, headaches, neck and shoulder tension, scar-related restriction, and the kind of deep, persistent muscular discomfort that's hard to shake. Many of my clients come to me having already tried other routes — physio, their GP, their dentist, and feeling frustrated that nothing has fully helped. That's where I come in.
My approach is holistic, which means I don't just treat the area that hurts. I take time at the start of every session to really listen and think about what's driving the symptoms, because in my experience, the source of the problem is often somewhere different to where the pain is felt. That's especially true with TMJ dysfunction, where jaw pain, headaches and shoulder tension are all connected, and where treating one without understanding the others rarely gives lasting results.
I hold advanced certification in Massage (therapeutic, pregnancy & oncology) , McLoughlin Scar Tissue Release (MSTR) and I am currently completing a Level 5 Sports Therapy BTEC diploma, which is deepening my understanding of rehabilitation and injury recovery. I'm a fully accredited member of the Federation of Holistic Therapists (FHT) and fully insured.
Continued learning is important to me. I stay up to date with developments in my field so that I can offer the most effective, evidence-informed care and so that when clients come to me feeling stuck, I have the knowledge and tools to actually help.
I also believe in honesty. If I feel that someone would benefit more from a different kind of support, whether that's alongside what I offer or somewhere else entirely, I'll always say so. My goal is never to create dependency on treatment. It's to help you understand your body better, make progress, and feel confident in how you're moving through the world.
Every session is completely tailored to you. If you want to talk through what's going on in detail, we will. If you'd rather switch off and let the treatment do the work in silence, that's absolutely fine too. Both are equally welcome here.
I'm currently booking around 3 to 4 weeks ahead. If you're ready to take the first step, I'd love to hear from you.
