Pregnancy Massage in Banbury, Oxfordshire
Pregnancy is one of the most physically demanding things a body goes through. As your shape changes and your centre of gravity shifts, it's completely normal to experience aches, tension, swelling and fatigue that can make everyday life feel harder than it should.
Pregnancy massage is one of the most effective and nurturing ways to support your body through that process. I offer tailored pregnancy massage from 15 weeks for expectant mothers across Banbury and Oxfordshire.
How Pregnancy Massage Can Help
Every session is adapted to where you are in your pregnancy and what your body needs on that day. Benefits commonly experienced include:
Relief from back and hip pain
As your bump grows, the shift in posture and weight distribution puts real strain on your lower back, hips and pelvis. Targeted massage helps release that tension and restore some comfort.
Reduced swelling
Fluid retention in the legs, ankles and feet is very common during pregnancy. Massage encourages lymphatic circulation, helping to reduce that uncomfortable heaviness and swelling.
Better sleep
Pregnancy can make restful sleep feel impossible, particularly in the second and third trimesters. The deep relaxation a good massage brings can make a real difference to how well you sleep in the days that follow.
Lower anxiety and stress
Your nervous system is working hard. Massage helps bring it back into balance, lowering cortisol, easing tension and leaving you feeling genuinely calm and restored.
A sense of being nurtured
This one matters more than it might sound. Pregnancy can feel relentless. An hour of focused, caring treatment, where someone is entirely focused on your comfort and wellbeing can be genuinely restorative in a way that goes beyond the physical.
What to Expect
Your session begins with a short consultation so I can understand how your pregnancy is progressing, any areas of particular discomfort, and anything I need to be aware of before we begin.
Pregnancy massage is carried out in a comfortable side-lying position, supported by cushions and bolsters, so there's no pressure on your bump at any point. Everything is done at a pace and pressure that feels right for you, and I'll check in throughout.
Sessions are one hour. I'll often suggest some simple things you can do at home between sessions to support the work we've done — gentle movement, stretches, or ways to manage specific discomforts.
You're growing a whole person. You deserve proper support.
Pregnancy massage is not a luxury — it's a genuinely effective way to care for your body and your mind during one of the most demanding times of your life. Get in touch to book a session, or just to ask a question.
Frequently Asked Questions
From how many weeks can I have pregnancy massage?
I offer pregnancy massage from 15 weeks onwards. If you're in your first trimester, get in touch and we can talk through the right time to start.
Is pregnancy massage safe?
Yes, when carried out by a trained therapist who understands the specific needs and contraindications of pregnancy. I have specialist training in pregnancy massage and I'll always take a full health history before your first session to make sure treatment is appropriate for you.
Do I need to check with my midwife or doctor first?
If you have any concerns or a higher-risk pregnancy, it's always worth a quick check with your midwife or GP before booking. For most straightforward pregnancies, no referral or permission is needed.
What if I have specific areas of pain or discomfort?
Tell me. The session is tailored to you, so if your lower back is the priority, or your hips, or your swollen ankles, we focus there. Nothing is fixed in advance.
How often should I come?
Many clients find once a month works well as a way to stay on top of discomfort and stress throughout pregnancy. Others come more frequently in the third trimester when things can feel particularly heavy. We'll work out what makes sense for you.
Can pregnancy massage help prepare me for labour?
Physically and emotionally, yes. Regular massage helps keep your body relaxed and mobile, and many clients tell me they feel more grounded and better prepared going into labour having had regular sessions throughout their pregnancy.
